SCC Tennis Academy operates daily from the iconic Club, Established in 1852, the Singapore Cricket Club is the premier sports and lifestyle club in the heart of the city. The club is a gazetted building framed by a breathtaking blend of historic and modern buildings, with the iconic Padang field at its doorstep. Across time, has been a magnet for Singapore’s sporting fraternity. Here, just about every popular field game is played: from cricket, naturally, to soccer, hockey, rugby, tennis, lawn bowls, netball among others. To accommodate its ever-increasing number of sports enthusiasts, the SCC has leased another field in the Dempsey district. Across its two fields, the Club plays host to sports at all levels – from friendlies to interclub and national leagues, as well as international signature tournaments that bring in big-name teams. The latter includes the SCC International Hockey 6s, the SCC International Rugby 7s, SCC Cricket Twenty20 and SCC International Soccer7s. For the purposes of this Bye-Law, appropriate Tennis attire comprises of recognised Tennis clothing sold for the purpose of playing Tennis

David Talon is a Strength and Conditioning coach specialized in tennis from Spain. He has been working in the last 10 years as a Strength and Conditioning coach in Spain first, and after that, overseas in Shanghai, Doha and currently working in Singapore. David has worked with all levels of tennis players. From ATP/WTA players such as Paula Badosa, Carlos Taberner, Ricardo Ojeda, Ricardo Rodriguez…in Tenisval academy in Valencia, as well as ITF and junior players in Pancho Alvariño Academy and Valencian Tennis Federation. For the last 4 years David has been in Doha with Qatar National Squad U12/14/16 and Davis Cup team. Jeson Patrombon Tennis Coaching
Jeson Patrombon is a Filipino tennis player. On the junior tour, Patrombon had a career-high junior ranking of 9 achieved in January 2011. He reached the quarterfinals of the 2011 Australian Open boys' singles event. Patrombon has a career-high ATP singles ranking of 869 achieved on August 13, 2012. He also has a career-high ATP double ranking of 1063 achieved on October 5, 2015. Patrombon has won 1 ITF doubles title. Patrombon has represented the Philippines at the Davis Cup where he has a W/L record of 5–4. Patrombon also won the 2019 SEA Games gold medalist and 2021 Silver Medalist.

Kids Class Age 5-7
Activities are designed to develop racquet handling skills, stroke fundamentals, hand-eye coordination and basic footwork. Classes are taught using low compression red felt balls in 36’ courts with smaller nets. By developing a child’s game with the proper sized court and equipment, the child learns strong court positioning, sound grips, tactical awareness, and strategies that would be otherwise more challenging to develop on an improper sized court with a higher bouncing ball. So before your child gets the itch to progress onwards in court size and equipment, think smaller and slower! Cancelation is due to *RAIN* or *MEDICAL EMERGENCY* only. As a coach, he holds a National level ITF Certification and has joined many Coaching courses over his career. Working mainly with Adults and Junior tournament players and offering his training from the CBD in Singapore. Coach Christo has been on the Singapore men’s rankings as a regular participant in the National tennis Tournaments held at Kallang Tennis centre. His highest ranking was at number 4 in The Singles open category and he still loves competing on a high level.

Amar Saletovic is 27 years old. He is a former NCAA D1 player and a USPTA certified professional coach / instructor with 10 years of experience with all levels. Working mainly with juniors and recreational adults from 2012-2020 Amar’s experience includes adult / junior head coach positions in some renowned clubs across the USA; Lafortune Tennis Park (most successful public tennis facility in 2018) - Oklahoma Provincetown Tennis Club - Massachusetts Jupiter Island Club (one of the most successful all-white clubs in USA) - Florida Cliff Drysdale Tennis (leading tennis company in USA) - Texas In 2020 and 2021 Amar has spent working with ATP / WTA players and juniors and recently led one of his players to their first Challenger title in Naples, FL. Amar believes in having fun on the court, building strong relationships, and adapting lessons to every single client/group. After just 10-15 minutes of assessing and hitting with me, it was clear he already knew what I needed to work on. We spent the next 5 hours working on my forehand drills, hip rotation and making clean contact front of my body. While I have had coaches in the past, his ideas were unique and highly complementary to what I had learned before. After the lessons, I feel like I'm moving more efficiently and swinging more freely, which should help me get to the next level. I'm very excited to see where these tips take me!

We have taken these group drill sessions with Christo, Agustin, and Amar - all have delivered a fun and productive practice for players looking to improve their game or just run through repetitions to reinforce proper technique. The coaches vary the intensity and type of drills based on player ability since your fellow participants are random and there is always something for everyone regardless of tennis experience. Even though I am a beginner, the coaches and fellow participants (all much better than me) have never made me feel unwelcome or like I was wasting their time. If you are thinking about taking any class with the SCC Tennis Academy coaches, I highly recommend you try this group session out as a taster.

For example, for a beginner like me, he gave incremental simple cues to help me construct a complete swing. He also has the skill and stamina to volley back my wayward shots, which keeps the rally going at a natural pace rather than just ball feeds. Sessions are intense yet fun, and the high effort repetitions are designed to turn those actionable tips into second nature. Highly recommended for complete beginners looking to start with a clean slate, as well as experienced players who want tweaks to their game.

Amar showed exceptional dedication and enthusiasm while working with the 3 of us. With our son, who is a competitive junior player, he managed to set a variety of goals including tactical skills and fitness development. With me and my husband, he was able to point out several concrete areas of focus while keeping things simple and goals achievable. He both worked us hard and made it fun. We play quite a bit of tennis and have worked with a fair number of coaches.
